As mentioned in my Goals post, I want to make more of an effort to look ahead. My plan at present is to post here on the first of each lunar month and take a closer look at both the new month and the next one.
I’m keeping things simple with my lunar offerings this month: cool, fresh water in their teacups, a tealight on the saucer, and an hour dedicated to cleaning/sorting in my room in order to make sufficient shrine and hearth space.
I have a closing shift at work on Imbolc; it’s the same day that we’re having an “It’s a girl!” party, as two of my coworkers are having a daughter soon, so we’re doing a (mostly dessert) potluck. I’d like to leave a brat outside for Brighid to bless, and I think I’ll make these raspberry-lemon muffins for work. They feel appropriately spring-y.
As for An Fursainnasadh, as I mentioned in my last post my plan is to tend a flame for an hour every day and do some reading about Brighid (I’ve picked up two books and I’ve got a handful of PDFs from JSTOR).
Laura’s Night is on the 15th, and I’m really not sure how I want to mark it. I will make offerings for her ka, of course, but I feel like there should be something else- I just don’t know what. If nothing else, I can dig out my copy of “The Secret of Platform 13” by Eva Ibbotson and reread it- it was a gift from Laura.
The 18th has come together beautifully in a completely unplanned way. Opening Night is the day that “The Gang’s All Here” debuted in NYC in 1931, in which my great-great-aunt Senta performed with the Tilly Losch ballet. Ballet was her life and her passion, so I’ve dedicated the day to pursuing my own passions and honoring my Patrons. This year it happens to fall on the same day as my offering to my Patrons- and I have tickets to see the Little Mermaid performed by the Carolina Ballet. I think it will be a good day. Aside from the performance I want to make sure I set aside some time to write.
For month two, I don’t anticipate any changes to my lunar offerings, though hopefully I’ll have managed to get my living space cleaned by this time. If not, I’ll continue working- if I have, I may dedicate that hour to working on travel shrines in my bullet journal, or setting up shrines in my room if I’ve figured out the space issues.
An Fursainnasadh continues for most of this lunar month, and I have no changes planned for the latter half.
I’ll be attending Paganicon in Minnesota from March 16-20, which will overlap my offering days for Lugh and my Patrons. I’m not sure how it’ll affect my offerings on those days- I know it will, just not how. I’m endeavoring to remaining open to possibilities on those two days especially.
So, that’s the plan. If you have any questions or thoughts, please share them!
